Francis B. Deane, daughter of Judge George B. Deane Jr., was born in New York. She had 2 sisters, Ann & Rose, as well as three
brothers, George, Parker, & Theodore.

Additionally, she graduated from the Womens Medical College in New York in 1891, and practiced privately, as well as being a member
of the New York City Board of Health until her marriage to Charles William Capes in 1898.,
